Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit original research papers, review papers, and conceptual articles related to social and environmental accounting, corporate governance, sustainability, and accountability. Manuscripts should not have been published or submitted elsewhere for publication.

1. General Requirements

  • All manuscripts must be written in English.
  • The manuscript should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx) format.
  • The manuscript length should be between 6,000 and 10,000 words, including references, tables, and figures.
  • Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all data and references used in the paper.

2. Submission Procedure

Manuscripts should be submitted directly via email to the editorial office:

Each submission will receive an acknowledgment email from the editorial team within a reasonable time.

3. Manuscript Structure

The manuscript should follow the structure below as provided in the official ISEA template:

  1. Title Page: Title of Paper, Author(s) Name(s) with superscript numbers (e.g., ¹, ², ³), Affiliation(s), and Corresponding Author’s Email.
  2. Abstract: Up to 200 words, Times New Roman 10 pt, one line spacing, with 12 pt spacing before the next heading.
  3. Keywords: 5–10 words, italic, lowercase, Times New Roman 10 pt.
  4. Biographical Notes: Brief information about the author(s), Times New Roman 10 pt, fixed line spacing 12 pt.
  5. Body of the Text: Includes Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, and References.
  6. Headings: Major headings 12 pt bold title case; body text 11 pt Times New Roman, one line spacing, 12 pt spacing between paragraphs.
  7. Figures and Tables: Centered, numbered consecutively, and clearly titled.
  8. Acknowledgment: If necessary, placed before the References section.
  9. References: Follow the examples provided in the template, using author-date style consistent with the document.

4. Formatting Guidelines

  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font size: 11 pt for main text, 12 pt bold for headings, 10 pt for abstract and notes.
  • Line spacing: Single (1.0), with 12 pt spacing between paragraphs.
  • Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.
  • Maximum length: 20 pages, including all figures, tables, and references.
  • Use consistent numbering for sections and subsections as shown in the template.

5. Plagiarism Policy

All manuscripts are checked using Turnitin software. Manuscripts with a similarity index above 25% will be rejected or returned to the author for revision.

6. Review Process

All submitted papers undergo a double-blind peer review process by at least two independent reviewers. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision based on reviewers’ recommendations.

7. Publication Ethics

Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are free from ethical issues such as plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate submission. The journal follows the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines for publication ethics.

8. Article Processing Charges (APC)

There is processing fee.

9. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain the copyright of their articles published in Issues in Social and Environmental Accounting (ISEA) under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license. Authors grant the journal the right of first publication.

10. How to Submit

To submit your manuscript, please follow these steps carefully:

  1. Prepare your manuscript using the ISEA Article Template.
  2. Ensure your manuscript meets all formatting and ethical requirements stated in this guideline.
  3. Rename your file as: ISEA_YourName_ShortTitle.docx (e.g., ISEA_Smith_SustainabilityAccounting.docx).
  4. Email your manuscript as an attachment to: hfauzi.isea.icseard@gmail.com
  5. Include in your email:
    • Full name and affiliation of all authors
    • Contact details of the corresponding author
    • A short cover letter introducing your paper
  6. Wait for an acknowledgment email from the editorial office confirming receipt of your submission.
